Usage & compatibility
A practical guide to choosing the right workflow for your site.
Start with a photo
You do not need a panorama camera. Use Capture to take a photo, or Import / Organize to choose Photos or Files. Create a project and area to keep records from the same site together.
Connect a panorama camera
Direct connections for Insta360 and DJI OSMO 360 are experimental. Choose a brand in Import / Organize, turn on the camera and its wireless features, allow Bluetooth and local networking, then confirm pairing and joining camera Wi-Fi. Browse available photos and keep the camera awake while downloading. Support depends on model, firmware, source format and capture mode. Insta360 support focuses on standard dual-lens panoramas; HDR, burst and RAW are not currently supported; DJI photo lists may be incomplete. You can also import compatible stitched panoramas from Photos or Files. Remote camera capture is not currently provided.
Add dimensions and details
Add dimensions, text, angle notes and hotspots to photos or panoramas, and link close-ups to hotspots. Dimension details show a photo preview highlighting the selected dimension, using a focused photo region or a static panorama view. The main form contains the name, value, unit, note and detail photos. Source, independent-tool verification and status can be entered under More professional records; they default to Not recorded. Manual values and arrow endpoints are saved separately; moving an arrow is not a new measurement.
Use AR / LiDAR
Open AR / LiDAR measure from Capture, wait for tracking, then place start and end points. Create multiple independent dimension lines and save them as photo annotations. Camera, AR and LiDAR availability depends on device capabilities; not all iPhones or iPads have LiDAR. Compatible devices without it can use AR plane tracking. Calculation references are retained, while professional fields such as source and verification are optional. Stale calculations keep a recalculation notice. Verify critical construction and installation dimensions on site.
Deliver a report
Choose records, annotations, order and views, then preview and export PDF or JPEG. Panoramas use static views. PDF dimension tables show the number or name and value by default; entered professional information appears as additional notes, while unfilled fields are omitted. Time, device, calculation dependencies and history are included only when additional records are explicitly enabled. Privacy options exclude structured location, private notes and image GPS by default. Check personal or site information visible in photos before sharing.
Back up and restore
Records are stored on your device. A complete .kdsite project package backs up originals, annotations and relationships. Preview a restore before importing it as a copy. Keep important backups in a safe location you manage. In-app cloud sync and password-protected backups are not currently available.
Free trial and one-time unlock
Once the app is released, you can actively claim a 7-day trial, lasting 168 hours from activation, with no automatic charge. A one-time in-app purchase unlocks continued creation. After the trial, existing records remain readable, searchable, exportable and available for backup and restore. Claiming a trial, purchasing and restoring purchases need an App Store connection.
Use it on iPad
Requires iPadOS 18.4 or later. Wide windows place the canvas beside tools and the dimension list, with a project sidebar in the library. Layouts adapt to orientation, Split View and window resizing, returning to a single column in narrow windows. One app window is supported at a time. Records remain local to each device and can be transferred manually using complete project packages; there is no automatic cloud sync.
